Joan Thomas is a paralegal at The Powers Firm, PLLC, where she works directly with Attorney Elise C. Powers in the firm’s matrimonial and family law practice. Ms. Thomas supports clients through each stage of their matters, assisting with case preparation, court filings, financial disclosure, document management, and client communication.

Ms. Thomas earned her A.A.S. in Criminal Justice from Hudson Valley Community College, where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She went on to earn her A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies from Bryant & Stratton College, where she was inducted into the Alpha Beta Gamma honor society.

Ms. Thomas understands that divorce, custody, and other family matters are often among the most difficult experiences in a person’s life, and that the legal process can feel unfamiliar and overwhelming. She brings an organized, detail-oriented approach to her work and is committed to making sure every client receives prompt, courteous, and dependable support.

Outside the office, Ms. Thomas is the proud mother of twins and enjoys hiking and painting. She values family and community and is a lifelong resident of the Capital Region.
